Morning Joe remembers former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who died at 82 years old and NFL Hall of Fame coach, broadcasting icon John Madden, who died at 85. Veteran columnist Mike Barnicle says of Reid and his influence on American politics: “One thought struck me more than anything else: Why aren't Democrats as tough today as Harry Reid was when he was the head of the Senate? I think it would be a different country, a different political party, and a different negotiation back and forth between all these conflicting issues if a Harry Reid was still there.” And on Madden: “Everybody in America knows John Madden. He was absolutely incredible. He was the guy who translated the arcane language of pro football into common English so that everybody understood it.”
